Why Are There Differences Between Matterport And Treedis Analytics?

If you are comparing analytics between your Matterport and Treedis accounts, you may notice discrepancies in the reported data. This difference is expected and depends on how each platform collects and displays its data. 

1. Data collection scope

  • Matterport begins tracking data from the moment any activity occurs in the tour, including during the editing process within the Matterport workshop.

  • Treedis, on the other hand, collects data only when someone opens the public tour. Visits made during editing or admin use (such as refreshing the tour in the Treedis admin panel) are not counted.

For example, if you open your tour in the Treedis Workspace and refresh it 20 times, Matterport registers 20 visits, while Treedis will register none.

2. GDPR compliance and cookies consent

Treedis is fully compliant with GDPR regulations. This means we are only allowed to collect user data if the visitor explicitly accepts cookies.

  • If the user declines cookies, no analytics data will be collected.

  • Matterport may operate under different compliance frameworks, which can result in higher reported traffic compared to Treedis.

3. User engagement tracking

Treedis analytics are interaction-based. This means data is recorded only when a user actively engages with the tour. Actions like clicks are tracked, but passive actions like hovering or loading the tour page without interaction are not.

  • If a user exits the page before the tour finishes loading, Treedis will not register the visit.

  • Matterport may count such visits based on different engagement criteria.

4. Delayed analytics display

Unlike Matterport, which may show data more immediately, Treedis analytics may take up to 24-48 hours to appear. This delay is due to system processing times and is also dependent on whether cookie consent was given.
