Navigation Tool

Treedis platform introduces the most complete indoor Navigation Tool. This new feature provides an advanced editor mode for navigation control, rendering it a distinctive and invaluable solution for users seeking to optimize their navigation experience.

Navigation Tool is the Treedis add-on available for Business and Enterprise plan users.

To access the Navigation Tool, open the tour > click on the Navigation add-on in the left sidebar to unlock it:

General

There are two modes available for the Navigation Tool: Web and AR. You can enable one or both options depending on your needs.

  • Web Navigation - provides a possibility to get your navigation path remotely (on desktop and mobile view).
  • AR Navigation - requires a physical presence in the tour and can be used on mobile devices after downloading the Treedis AR app.

Note: Turning the Web navigation ON will disable Burger Menu, Highlight
Reel, Minimap, Panorama and Flows. These features can't work simultaneously with
the Web mode.

Path Editor

The Path Editor introduces a viewer which helps to model the navigation path to understand how it will be built in the tour, and to check if no obstacles are on the way.

The Path Editor offers the Viewport Settings and Preview Path which are visible in the workspace.

  • Viewport Settings are needed if you want to hide specific items (barriers, sweeps, teleports, or VS media) in your workspace section. Simply put, if there are too many items and they interfere with your workflow, you can disable them for yourself. However, they will still function and remain visible in the tour.
  • Preview Path allows you to set a Starting Point and a Finish Point to build a path between two locations in the tour. You can choose from a list of existing locations (tags) in your tour or put a custom location to see how the path is generated to the destination point.

The path can be automatically generated using two modes:

  • Elevator Route – Creates the shortest and fastest route possible, including the use of an elevator.
  • Stairs Only – Builds a route that considers stairs while avoiding elevators.

If you are not satisfied with the automatically generated path or need to manually adjust it for an alternative route, the Path Editor allows you to make modifications using custom sweeps, barriers, and teleports.

Sweeps

The system builds the navigation path to the final destination using the existing sweeps in your tour. If you want to re-build or edit the path manually, you can add your own custom sweep(s) and connect them to the neighbor sweeps to build your own path.

To create the custom sweep, click + Add and put it on the path that should be corrected or changed.

Then, click on the neighbour sweeps to connect them with the newly added custom sweep and save. You can also name your new custom sweep for convenience (optional).

That’s it! The system will automatically generate a new path that incorporates the custom sweep.

Monosnap before after.png 2025-03-18 17-18-49Use the search bar to find both custom and existing sweeps in your MP panoramas to further edit or delete them. Clicking on the dustbin icon will remove the connection between the sweeps and will make the system avoid the "deleted" sweep when generating the path.

You can use the following shortcut buttons to apply configurations to all sweeps at once:

  • Delete Sweep Neighbours – Removes all connections between neighboring sweeps at once. Important: use this option carefully, as it may cause navigation issues, requiring you to manually re-create the connections.
  • Remove Neighbors Between Floors – Removes connections between sweeps located on different floors.
  • Restore Sweep Neighbours – Restores default connections between sweeps (Important: custom sweeps will not be recovered).

You can locate the desired sweep in the tour workspace by clicking on the relevant icon (1).

The eye icon (2) hides the sweep on the space, so the system will not consider it when building the path. Click the eye icon again to restore the sweep.

Barriers

Barrier is a polygon that functions as a "block" and can be put on the path. When the barrier is put, the system will generate an alternative way to get to the destination and at the same time avoid the path that is blocked.

To put a barrier, click + Add and put the polygon on the way that should be avoided, for example, if the path is leading you through the wall or window etc. It is an alternative way to adjust your navigation path, if you would not like to edit the sweeps connections.

The barrier doesn't necessarily block the whole path, it can also allow one-way direction. It means, if the tour visitors move one direction, the path with a barrier will be closed for them, but backward direction will still be possible.

Use a search bar to find the barrier and edit or delete it.

Teleports

Teleports exist for both elevators and stairways. This feature ensures the system builds an accurate path between floors when an elevator and/or stairways are present in the building. To make the system build the path taking the elevator(s) into account, you need to create the teleport group for desired floor, which you want to be involved in the path calculation.

To add a teleport (for either an elevator or stairway), click + Add > select the Teleport group > choose either Stairway or Elevator as the type > click + to place the teleport point in your tour > name the teleport for convenience (optional) > Save.

To make a teleport group work in a 5-story building, you need to create a teleport point on each floor. For example, place the first teleport point next to the elevator on Floor 1, the second on Floor 2, the third on Floor 3, and so on. The system must recognize the presence of an elevator in the tour and take each teleport group into account when building the navigation path accordingly.

Once you have put the first teleport (e.g. Elevator on floor 1), click on 3 dots next to this teleport group on the admin panel and select Edit. You will be offered to add an additional teleport point for the same group (e.g. Elevator on floor 2). Once added, click Save.

That's it! We have now created a teleport group that allows movement between Floor 1 and Floor 2 in both directions. You can add more teleport points (e.g., on Floor 3, Floor 4) depending on the number of floors available in the building.

Creating teleports for stairways follows the same process. Take into consideration, if you place teleport groups on a staircase, the system will not display a path through the stairs but will instead show an animation as if the user has entered an elevator.

    • Use the Dollhouse view in the workspace to navigate between floors and easily place teleport points next to elevators or stairways.
    • In the workspace, the teleport groups for elevators are marked in blue, while teleport groups for stairways are marked in red.

The teleport system works as follows: when a visitor selects a desired location (tag) and chooses a path (either an elevator or stairs), the system will automatically generate a route to the destination, taking the elevator group into account.

When users click on a teleport point, they will see an animation as they move between floors. This animation applies to both elevator and stairway teleports and is available in WEB and AR modes.

    Navigation Menu

Navigation menu is literally a menu of the tour. It is designed to classify and categorize all available locations within the tour, making it easier for users to search for specific destinations. When visitors open a tour public link, the first thing they will see is the Navigation Menu.

    Menu Items

For tour visitors to search for a specific location within the tour, you first need to create locations (navigation tags).

To create a location: open the Navigation Menu > (1) Menu Items > (2) click + Add > (3) select New Item, this will allow you to place a regular tag.

Insert a tag name and, optionally, add media content for your tag. Then configure the navigation settings (AR and/or WEB) per your needs.

    • Thumbnail - Sets a preview image for the navigation tag, which will be displayed on the screen while navigating to this location.

Once the location (tag) is created, it will automatically be placed in the default category "Other". You can also create new categories for your Navigation Menu and classify tags accordingly. To create a different category: click + Add > select New Category.

For the new category you can: (1) edit the category title (e.g. Spa); (2) choose a category icon; (3) select an icon color; (4) set an icon background color; (5) select tags to be grouped under the new category.

    • If all locations (tags) are created and remain under the default "Other" category, they will appear as a dropdown list in the Navigation Menu.
    • If all locations (tags) are moved from the "Other" category to different categories, the Navigation Menu will first display the categories, each containing the assigned locations (tags).

Here is an example of the Navigation Menu featuring a search bar and various categories such as Reception, Hallway, Rooms, etc. each containing assigned tags. These categories will be visible to all viewers when they enter a tour with Web or AR navigation mode enabled.

For a category to appear in the Navigation Menu, it must contain at least one location (tag). Tags can be easily moved between different categories as needed.

To assign a tag to another category: open the desired category > click the edit (pencil) icon >  select the tags to be included. Once saved, the location (tag) will be automatically transferred to the new category.

How It Looks Inside the Tour

Once visitors open the tour, the Navigation Menu will appear first - either with categories (1) or without, depending on your setup. Visitors should then select a desired location (tag) from the Navigation Menu (2).

Upon selecting a location, a popup window will appear, displaying the following:

    1. Start and destination points.

    2. Option to choose between an elevator or stairs.

    3. Button to start 3D navigation.

    4. Button to share the path to a phone.

    5. Detailed route (optional setting, can be enabled via Navigation Menu > Content & Settings > 'Detailed route' ON).

    Sharing Section

The sharing section is what the viewers see after they reached the destination. It allows to set up the "Rate section" and "Sharing Component".

    Rate Section

When the visitors get to the destination place, they can rate the navigation tool, if this option is enabled. You can set before vote phrase and after vote phrase.

    Sharing Component

When visitors reach the destination place, they can get the link for the same navigation path to their phone:

    • by scanning the QR code - system will generate the navigation link automatically.
    • via SMS - you can set up the title of the text message and the message itself.

Additionally, the SMS settings also allow you to add a policy and set a default country (region) code for the phone number.

How It Works Inside the Tour

Upon reaching the destination, the system will display a pop-up with the following options:

    1. Notification confirming arrival at the destination.
    2. QR code to scan and access the same route on mobile device.
    3. Option to send the route to a phone via a provided phone number.
    4. Options to start a new search or replay the same route.
    5. Prompt to leave a rating (if the rating feature was enabled).

    Physical Stations

Physical Station is for the kiosk mode. It is a web version implemented under the physical station (kiosk), which is a standalone booth placed in the physical building, be it a hospital, shopping mall, hotel, factory etc. Kiosk mode exists to define the starting point of the navigation path.

To add a physical station (kiosk), click + Add > and the title > add deep link or click to copy the current location > insert the URL link. When saved, the new kiosk station will be created.

The edit mode is also available for the physical station, if there is a need to make some changes.

The operational system of the kiosk will show the path to the destination place basing on its physical location in the building. So you will need to indicate the deep link for the exact location in the physical stations in Treedis workspace.

When the visitors arrive to the destination spot, they will get a pop-up screen, asking if they want to get the navigation route by scanning the QR code or via SMS. When the QR code is scanned or the phone number is entered, the user will get a link for the same route that starts from the physical station (kiosk), and shows exactly where the user needs to go, so a tour visitor is aware of the path in advance.
